Bailey's Sweet 16 Jan 05

It was the morning of our 2nd day in Kauai before we finally stepped onto a beach.  We still needed to get snorkel gear together and today we wanted to do some shopping and site see, but neither Bailey or I was willing to go another minute without stepping out onto the beach.  So we stopped to watch the waves roll in.  I LOVE watching them!
I don't know if you can truly ever capture the amazing colors and serenity that rolling waves present, but this is what I got.  I could have watched them for hours!
Which means I must want to be in them, yes?  So on to Boss Frogs for snorkel gear!

At this point you almost just have to wonder if I am taking pictures just to take pictures.  Well wonder no more, I was.  I felt guilty for not having any on the 2 travel days.  So here is Nathan waiting for the rest of his gear.

Our first stop was Spouting Horn on Poipu Beach.  I had heard of it, seen a picture and said lets do it.  I put the name into navigator and Siri started directing us where to go.  Can you imagine our surprise when we made a right turn and seen that the trees were like a tunnel over the road?  I know these pictures didn't do it justice, but trust me..it was breathtaking!

Lunch time rolled around and we needed somewhere to eat.  We found a place called Bubba's and thought why not.  Then we seen this sign....HEALTH FOOD SUCKS!  Eat at Bubbas!  We knew it would be amazing but soooo not good for you at that point.  But went with it anyway.  It was amazing!

So amazing infact that I think the Hawaiian Gods decided to punish us for gorging ourselves.  The rain fell harder than it did the entire trip for about 10 minutes.  Here is Bailey hiding out in one of the stores of this strip mall.

Spouting Horn is where the water pushes through a hole in the lava rock.  Isn't it gorgeous?!

Me, Bailey and Nathan
What a view!

I never did get over the color of that water!  There is no photoshop needed for these pictures.  It is really that blue!
What a fun thing to have 2 turtles show up and surf the waves for us.  They were a lot of fun to watch, reminded me of Crush from Finding Nemo.

Seriously!  The View!
Same view, 2 steps to the right so I could get the tree in the picture.

Off of the beach here was a bunch of little shops, super cute souvenier type things.  We had a lot of fun going through them.

Then as we walked back to our car along the shore my Dad says "Holy BLEEP!  I just seen a whale breach out of the water".  The only pictures I got where of him waving his tail at us afterwards, but this was one thing I could definitely cross of my bucket list.  I did not even know it was on there until I had seen it in person.

I guess if you are 16 and going to travel to Hawaii you have certain images in your head that must be met.  One for Bailey was drinking from a real coconut.  So we made it happen!  She hated it (coconut milk is not good lol), but she has done it!  Cross that off of HER bucket list!
This trip Bailey realized she loves turtles!  So we picked her up a bunch of turtle memorabilia, included this cute stuffed little gal.
Mom and Dad letting us know it is dinner time :)

Luckily the BBQ's were located down by the pool.  So while Nathan cooked, I put my feet in the water and had this view.  Every. Single. Night.

Garlic Burgers, yummy!

Please notice the Grandma in the background photobombing this picture.

After dinner it was time to get silly.  The water was too cold after the sun went down for my tastes.  But Bailey refused to not get in. So posing for the camera was the name of the game.

She is so beautiful.  Too much for me to be happy about it actually.  Looking through these pictures I want my 3 year old, not sure how I got to this model looking young woman.

Actually that is a little better LOL be silly, not model like!

At this point I think she is just showing off!

Begging us to get in with her....

This one was trying to show Courtney she could be a dancer

And then out came the silliness again.

So the trees with roots above the ground....any idea what these are or why they are like this?  They are everywhere and so weird!  I told my mom give me a face of "what on earth is this".  I think she pulled it off haha

Besides the rain, this looked like a super fun day. Love snorkeling. The trees look ah-maze-ing.
