For anyone who truly claims to know me they should know my favorite time of the week is Friday at 5. There is no time better than that, and I will even explain why. Because Nathan and I carpool together I don't have to drive to or from work. Therefore it is quite relaxing for me---sit back, enjoy the music or even read a book if the mood hits me. So Friday at 5 means total relaxation---none of my weekend is used up yet, but I am FREE for 2 days, 3 nights, YAY!
Well Friday at 5 was not the usual relaxation mode I have come to enjoy so much. Luckily we had no kids this weekend or it could have been a lot worse than it already was.
(BEWARE: This is the dramatic version)
I get the normal phone call at 5 telling me he is here and I should start logging out and head downstairs. This time he tells me "please hurry, I will explain once you get in the car" then he hangs up. I am running around like CRAZY! Something must be wrong---I am sorry but I don't think it is just me, every mother does this right? I start thinking daycare has called and Tayler or Landon was hurt, or maybe there was a car accident? Don't you think he would have told me that over the phone??? I leave my purse and cell phone on my desk, get 1/2 way down the stairs before I realize and have to run back upstairs. At this point I am a wreck and am not sure, but may have pee'd my pants somewhere a long the way? Shhhh don't repeat that ok?
Anyway---I get in the truck and he has his hand covered w/a wet paper towel. He was at work and something exploded (not really listening when he explains this to me, because again I AM A GIRL! He is in pain and wants to talk mechanics? You have to be kidding me!!!) I do believe he said hydraulic fluid somewhere in the sentence. Ok so it blows up all over his semi---and he realizes he can't leave it all weekend like that. Pulls out the power washer (which apparently gets up to 200 degrees) and gets the semi all cleaned up. Now here it gets a bit cloudy for me again---he starts talking about letting out all the pressure, but apparently it didn't completely work. He starts to remove the hose and there was still pressure and 200 degree water inside. The hose blew off and the pressurized water hit the top of his right hand. He had gloves on (THANK YOU for small miracles!) but the pressure had such force, it helped but not much. The water was so hot he ripped the glove off and with it went his skin.
He decided he will go home, put on some burn cream and wrap it---poker night is saved. HA! Again if you know me, you know just what I did. That's right, I called my daddy and told on him! After being in the car with me for 10 minutes just complaining up a storm he finally agreed Instacare probably wasn't a horrible idea. So we went to one not far from our house. They pulled off all the dead skin, caked it w/burn cream and wrapped it up. We had to go back yesterday and will be going there again today. The doctor said good call on coming in---it is a 2nd degree burn and will easily infect. Once infected it will get into his blood stream and could be a lot worse than just painful. The doctor gave him a bunch of prescriptions, including burn cream, an antibiotic, pain pills and naproxin to bring down the swelling.
I thought of adding the picture and decided no one wants to log on here thinking they will see my kids and end up w/an eye full of that---but it is interesting so if you want to see it, email me. Even Bailey checked it out.
He is in a lot of pain and is having trouble getting comfortable but is going to be fine. I was warned that if I don't stop treating him like a 5 year old he was going to whoop me---so his attitude is still fine (grrrr). I personally think he a bit likes being treated like a 5 yr old---but that Marine is still alive and kicking and won't admit it outloud! We are very glad he is okay---love him tons!!
Now call Nathan for the less girl version....ha ha

So much for Friday at 5!!!! Freaky Friday. I'll stick with the girl version of this story. I hope Nathan gets back to normal soon. Take good care of him Natalie even if the Marine in him is kicking around.
Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!!! We hope he is feeling better soon!
