School Lockdown

Suicidal man arrested in West Jordan March 2nd, 2009 @ 12:13pm WEST JORDAN -- A suicidal man who prompted the lock down of eight schools in West Jordan and South Jordan was found and taken into custody. The lockdown has since been removed. Police began locking down the schools just after 10 a.m. The worry started after the 33-year-old man threatened to kill himself. He had called his girlfriend from a church parking lot in Taylorsville and, after some sort of disagreement, he told her he had a gun and threatened suicide. The girlfriend told one of her friends, who then called police.
So because the guy threatened, and claimed to be armed the schools were on lockdown---Bailey, Courtney and Tayler's was included. Sounds scary but oh believe me it was nothing but excitement for the kids! They were never in danger, it just gave them something to talk about today. We are happy with the decision made to lockdown the schools even if there was no imminent danger. Better safe than sorry!
