July 18th, these were delivered to me at work with a card that read "Go home, pack your bags, and prepare for an adventure. I love you, Nathan"
The flowers are Star Lily's. When I drug Nathan to the wedding expo we found these. They are absolutely beautiful and what I want in my bouquet. I love that he knows the small details! The plan was to leave work at noon so we could run to the Shane Co. and pick up the ring. We had picked it out last week and it was being sized and the stone set. Nathan called right at noon and said he was running a bit late. Go home, pack for both of us, I should be there by the time you are done.
We started loading up the truck and word for word
"I wouldn't feel right, if I didn't do this right"
Got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I love that he went and picked up the ring before planned on his own. These are the little things that count everyone keeps talking about! I don't think I can possibly explain to you just how much I love this man!
Ok these pictures aren't easy to see. I put my knees up so the dark jeans color would help, but even still it just doesn't do it justice.
I knew nothing that was coming---everything was a surprise as we pulled up. The next stop was Little America...
Our room was gorgeous! It is very large and oh my you should see the tub!!
We were on the 15th floor and was lucky enough to be one of the few rooms with a balcony. Nathan was a bit nervous, but you can't resist. The view is amazing!
About 5:30 we went for a walk downtown. It was cool enough to be quite relaxing. Not far from our hotel is The Melting Pot. Our next stop---we had 6:00 reservations.
Not many pictures here---but what would I take them of? I have wanted to try this place for so long, and we were really glad we did. The food was great!
It is all fondue, and there is so much! We started out w/our choice of cheese mixture and it is served with 3 different kinds of bread, a variety of veggies and granny smith apples. All of the things went so well with the cheese. We were already getting full and our waitress had warned us in advance that the meal would take about 2 hours.
Next came salads. We weren't picky enough with the salad choice I think. There was so much to pick and so we just grabbed a name off the list. Don't get me wrong, it was really tasty. It just had chunks of bleu cheese---NOT my favorite!
3rd was the main course. You have to pick a cooking style---which is really just what you cook it in. We picked a citrus mixture. It was served with lobster tail, filet mignon, jerkied sirloin, pork, vanilla rum chicken and cajun shrimp. Each piece of meat comes out with 3 or 4 raw chunks and you cook it yourself. Odd, but really quite entertaining. We seriously had such a great time! I don't care for steak, but even that was really good. We didn't ever eat anything we didn't love.
AND of course the dessert. We picked a white chocolate mixture with caramel, bananas, and cinnamon. It was seriously sinful!!! It was served with cheesecake, brownies, strawberries, bananas, marshmellows, pound cake and a rice krispie treat. It was so rich but you had such a hard time putting it down! I was glad I saved all my extra weight watchers points all week---I needed them!
With our meal we ordered a bottle of wine. The waitress helped us pick it and of course it just added to the wonderful meal. It was a bit pricy, but we will definitely try it again---after we rob a few banks. ha
We finished the meal and waiting outside for us was a horse drawn carriage.
He rode us around downtown Salt Lake and into Memory Gardens. Lots of pioneer information, but so fun to see. It was beautiful and very peaceful.
I really enjoyed it and was very relaxed---except for about the last 20 minutes. I was ready to get off and walk. My allergies were really bad with this horse carrying us everywhere. It got a bit hard at the end, but so worth it!
As if all of this wasn't enough---we went back to the room and champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were delivered.
The moon was so beautiful, and came up over the mountains so quickly. We drank our champagne on the balcony to enjoy it.
